Moral Reconation Therapy

Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)® is a systematic, step-by-step treatment designed for the development of moral decision-making.  It is a widely-used program frequently used with ex-offenders and those recovering from drug or alcohol addictions.

Over a series of 12 to 16 steps, with guidance by a certified facilitator, participants in MRT discuss and evaluate decision making scenarios. At Employment Access Center, MRT groups consist of 8 to 10 individuals who meet approximately once a week. The majority of “steps” must be approved by peers in the group before participants move onto the next step.

MRT works to improve judgment and strengthen problem-solving skills among its participants – qualities expected in reliable employees.  MRT is a required step for virtually all customers served by two programs:

Portland Partners Reentry Initiative (PPRI)
Employment and case management services in partnership with other Portland area service providers.

Access to Building Trades & Customer Service Occupations
Employment services geared to building trades and customer service companies for residents of CCC’s permanent housing.

Employment Access Center has staff who are certified facilitators of the Moral Reconation  Therapy.
